Garegin Baghramyan: My Connection with Vanetsyan Did Not Influence My Appointment
During the discussion on the appointment of the head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission in Armenia, LHK faction MP Gevorg Gorgisyan asked candidate Garegin Baghramyan whether his friendly relationship with the Director of the NSS, Arthur Vanetsyan, played a role in his nomination or if it was his professional knowledge.
“It is known from your biography that you worked at the PSRC from 2004 to 2018. While setting aside how positive your 14 years of experience is for this commission, it’s clear that you possess knowledge pertinent to the field and have a grasp of the issues. It is also known that you are a close associate of NSS Director Arthur Vanetsyan. I want to understand, in your assessment, how much of a role did your professional knowledge and your friendship play in your nomination,” Gorgisyan asked.
Baghramyan responded, “I am convinced that my experience played a larger role in my nomination to the Prime Minister than our friendly connection.”
Gevorg Gorgisyan replied, “So, by your estimate, it seems that knowledge significantly influenced the decision, let’s say 40 percent was due to friendship.”
