Disgraceful Response to Our 9-Point Inquiry: Marukyan on Jhanjughazyan

The ruling force defended its minister, who isn't even its own, having worked for many years during the Republican Party's era. This was stated today by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Bright Armenia' faction, while addressing the matter of the National Assembly's failure to accept the proposed decision regarding the future position of Finance Minister Atom Jhanjughazyan, which received 41 votes in favor, 67 against, and 1 abstention.

“I believe this defense is temporary, as today he received 41 votes against him. This is a message to the Prime Minister that there is a minister in his cabinet who received 41 votes against him. This also serves as a lesson to other ministers that they cannot treat the parliament with disdain. Questions raised by the parliament must be answered properly, and responses to pressing issues concerning citizens that we have inquired about should be given adequate answers,” said Marukyan.

He noted that the Finance Ministry had sent a written response to their faction's nine-point inquiry, describing it as “disgraceful”: “We had hoped that at least there would be verbal responses here, and we saw that there weren’t any verbal responses either. After that, we made the decision that the question of this minister’s future position should be put for discussion,” he added, stating that he had even been in favor during the previous government for the dismissal of personnel that could not carry out an economic revolution.
