Bright Armenia Today Will Vote on Finance Minister's Resignation Issue
According to the newspaper "Zhamanak", the "Bright Armenia" faction will put to vote the issue of the resignation of Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan today.
The faction sent an inquiry to the government as part of the draft law on amendments to the structure of the government, seeking to clarify on what basis cuts are being made, which state organizations and institutions are being downsized, how much money is being saved as a result of these cuts, and whether these savings will be directed towards increasing salaries and pensions.
The Ministry of Finance provided answers to the inquiry that were vague and lacked specificity, which was described by the head of the Bright Armenia faction, Edmon Marukyan, as disrespectful and a poor option for a country aspiring to parliamentary governance.
Utilizing the opportunity provided by the Constitution and the law on the "Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly", Marukyan raised the issue of Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan's resignation.
The draft will be put to a vote today without discussion, and this will be an unprecedented event in the new Armenia, where a parliamentary faction raises the issue of the resignation of a specific member of the government.
