Why this year the Memorial Day following Easter will not be declared a non-working day: Aghajanyan

The Head of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office, Edward Aghajanyan, has addressed the decision not to declare April 22 as a non-working day.

“A small clarification regarding the Memorial Day. The government did not declare April 22 as a working day; rather, the government has decided not to declare it a non-working day. I would like to remind that only the Memorial Day on January 7 is legally established as a non-working day,” Aghajanyan wrote on his Facebook page.

It is worth noting that on April 21, the Armenian people will celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ or Easter, which is considered one of the five major feasts in both the Old and New Testaments.

The previous government of Armenia had designated the days following major feasts as non-working, compensating for this by declaring the following Saturday a working day. However, April 22 will not be moved; it will remain a working day.
