We Can't Fit in 100 Drams: Passenger Transportation
Passenger transport companies announced they would initiate a strike, but the city hall proposed a meeting to discuss the issue yesterday evening. This was stated by the President of the Transporters Union, Hrant Yeghiazaryan, in an interview with NEWS.am.
“City hall called yesterday at 5 PM and said they were ready to meet and have a discussion. We met with Deputy Mayor Haik Sargsyan this morning at 9:30 AM and are waiting for their response. We have not set any time limits,” noted Hrant Yeghiazaryan.
According to the president of the Transporters Union, the issue revolves around the 100 drams, which is insufficient for passenger transport operators. “We can’t fit in 100 drams; we say give us subsidies, provide cheaper fuel, until the new route network is put into operation, after which you will operate your new buses, and the minibuses will become a thing of the past,” he highlighted.
During the meeting, the city hall representative mentioned that they would address the matter with the government. Passenger transporters are awaiting a response.
