Urgent: Baku Ready to Allow Armenians to Leave for Azerbaijan, Azerbaijanis for Artsakh and Armenia

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its readiness to fulfill the agreements reached during the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Moscow. According to Kommersant, quoting the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Leyla Abdullayeva, Baku has always been prepared to create conditions aimed at strengthening relations between the societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Abdullayeva also stated that Baku will not hinder its citizens' visits to Armenia and to relatives held in detention in Artsakh.

“There have never been any strict prohibitions on our citizens visiting Armenia and the occupied territories. The rarity of such visits is due to the fact that Azerbaijanis are concerned about their personal safety. However, the situation can change if the Armenian side provides the appropriate security guarantees,” Abdullayeva said.

It should be noted that yesterday, in response to a query from PanARMENIAN.Net, David Babayan, the spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, stated that Stepanakert is ready to allow visits of relatives of Azerbaijani citizens held in detention in the territory of the Republic of Artsakh.

He mentioned that the Artsakh side has nothing to hide, as it respects the rights of Azerbaijani detainees, in contrast to Azerbaijan, where citizens of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh are tortured. Babayan added that they even have video calls with their relatives.

According to Babayan, Artsakh has always proposed measures that contribute to fostering mutual trust between the conflicting sides.

It is noteworthy that the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to take measures based on mutuality to permit visits from relatives of persons held in detention in each other's territories.
