Trump Promises Support for Notre-Dame Cathedral Restoration
United States President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. As reported by Armenpress, the White House stated that the U.S. leader expressed his willingness to support the restoration efforts for the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which was damaged by fire.
“This morning, President Donald Trump expressed his condolences on behalf of the American people to French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the devastation caused by the fire at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. We stand with the French people and offer our assistance in the restoration of this irreplaceable symbol of Western civilization,” said the White House statement.
It is noteworthy that two-thirds of the Notre-Dame Cathedral was destroyed by the fire that broke out the previous evening. An international fundraising campaign has been declared for the restoration of the spiritual and cultural monument. Two wealthy French individuals have already pledged 300 million euros for the cathedral's restoration.
According to preliminary data, the fire was ignited due to construction work being carried out at the cathedral.
