Gazprom Armenia Decides: Gas Prices Will Not Rise at the Expense of Dismissing Inspectors

Gazprom Armenia plans to keep the gas price unchanged for residents despite a $15 increase at the Armenian-Georgian border, but it will do so by reducing costs. As part of this plan, the company will cut its workforce, specifically targeting inspectors rather than central administrative staff.

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," inspectors at Gazprom Armenia will receive notifications of their dismissals in the coming days. When asked whether these layoffs are related to the border gas price increase, the company responded, "Due to the changes in the price of natural gas supplied to Armenia, discussions are currently ongoing regarding various complex issues, including the reduction of system costs, reassessment of the number of employees, and staff cuts."

This indicates that the company has decided not to raise gas prices for consumers by laying off inspectors. Meanwhile, experts suggest that it may even be possible to decrease the gas tariff through optimizing the company's expenses, reducing losses, and lowering the profit margin norms,” the newspaper writes.
