David Sanasaryan Neither Confirms Nor Denies Reports of His Involvement as Suspect in Criminal Case
The head of the State Control Service, David Sanasaryan, has neither confirmed nor denied reports that he has been involved as a suspect in a criminal case being investigated by the National Security Service (NSS). This case concerns alleged abuses of official position by officials of the State Control Service related to illegal interference in the public procurement process and creating obstacles for legitimate entrepreneurial activities.
In response to a question from Radio Liberty about his involvement as a suspect, Sanasaryan stated that it is a pre-investigation secret and added that he cannot provide any information to avoid jeopardizing the case.
David Sanasaryan has emphasized that he has called on the NSS to exercise caution during the pre-investigation phase.
It is noteworthy that the NSS had initiated a criminal case against officials of the State Control Service for alleged illegal interference in the public procurement process and creating obstacles for legitimate entrepreneurial activities, based on Article 308, Part 2, and Article 325, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
