Charges Filed Against Several Soldiers in Megrik Military Unit Case
Charges have been filed against several soldiers in connection with the case regarding disobedience and leaving the military unit in Megrik, following a criminal case initiated on the directive of the prosecutor. This was reported to ShantNews.am by the prosecutor's office.
The soldiers are charged under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Armenian Criminal Code for refusing to fulfill certain duties of military service. Under this article, the soldiers may face detention in a disciplinary battalion or imprisonment.
"Refusal of a soldier to perform military service or fulfill individual duties, which has been accompanied by their actual cessation... which has been carried out by a group of individuals, shall be punishable by detention in a disciplinary battalion for a period of 1-3 years, or imprisonment for a period of 1-5 years," states the article.
