The Golden Palace Hotel Complex in Tsaghkadzor Faces Closure Threat

The Golden Palace Hotel complex in Tsaghkadzor, belonging to the family of former head of the Customs Service Armen Avetisyan, is facing a threat of closure. Employees of the hotel voiced their concerns in an interview with Irakanum.am.

It was previously noted that Armen Avetisyan donated his hotel to the state. This was announced months ago by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who added that the hotel complex would be put up for auction. However, months later, there have been no announcements regarding the auction, and the State Property Management Department indicated that the donation is contingent upon an opinion from the relevant law enforcement agencies.

There is currently no opinion, no auction has been announced, and hotel staff members were recently notified that they would be unemployed as of April 18. Approximately 50 citizens are currently employed at the hotel complex. The hotel staff reported that the Governor of Kotayk Province, the Mayor of Tsaghkadzor, and specialists from the State Property Management Department visited the Golden Palace recently. They conducted another round of tours and studies before leaving.

“We appeal to Mr. Pashinyan, why is the auction not taking place? Let it be handed over temporarily to someone so that we can work until this issue is resolved. We have families to support, what will we do in a few days?” the employees stated.

According to information received by the site, the company Vivaro had expressed interest in purchasing the complex, but an agreement on the price has not been reached.
