How Orders Reach the Judge: Haik Alumyann

What happened in court yesterday represents an extremely significant violation from a legal perspective, said Haik Alumyann, a member of the defense team for Armenia's second president Robert Kocharian, during a meeting with reporters today.

According to Alumyann, the sooner the authorities understand that this is unacceptable, the fewer negative consequences will accumulate.

He pointed out that every argument they presented was sufficient in its own right for Robert Kocharian to be immediately released yesterday. "As Mr. Kocharian said during the trial, we certainly cannot expect the judge to be a hero; only a judge with heroic qualities can make an objective decision at this stage in this case," Alumyann stated.

The defender noted that they have begun to receive accurate information from various sources regarding how and through whom orders are reaching the judge.

"The time will come when names will be presented one by one. It is not the case that all of this will always be concealed, and the more the spring is compressed, the stronger it will be released later," Alumyann said.
