Man Produced and Sold Fake Airline Tickets from Yerevan to Kyiv and Kyiv to Yerevan

The preliminary investigation into a criminal case regarding the production and sale of fake airline tickets has been completed at the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia’s Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts. A 34-year-old man has been charged.

According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, the investigation revealed that in September 2018, a resident of Yerevan, born in 1984, fabricated and sold five airline tickets for the Yerevan-Kyiv and Kyiv-Yerevan flights.

Through the investigative and procedural actions, several circumstances and mechanisms of the case were clarified.

Specifically, the 34-year-old man, who had worked for years in a company engaged in ticket sales, decided to continue his activities online.

According to information obtained during the pre-trial proceedings, a customer who purchased the fake tickets learned about the website created by the 34-year-old man through the Facebook social network. With the intention of purchasing tickets for the flight to Ukraine, the woman called the mobile number listed on the site and ordered five airline tickets for the Yerevan-Kyiv and Kyiv-Yerevan flights, totaling 207,000 AMD.

It was revealed that the man prepared the electronic fake tickets based on a sample ticket he had and with the help of a computer.

Later, the customer discovered at the airport that no electronic bookings had been made in her name for the airline tickets.

With sufficient evidence gathered, the 34-year-old man has been charged under Article 325, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A signature prohibiting him from leaving has been chosen as a measure of restraint.

It has been announced that the preliminary investigation is complete, and the criminal case with the accusatory conclusion has been sent to court.
