Don't Scare Us with War, We Are Not Afraid of War: Pashinyan

As long as the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is not resolved, no negotiations will be effective. This statement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a conversation with reporters, addressing his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Vienna.

“In the statement by the co-chairs and the foreign minister, it was noted that the meeting was held in a constructive and positive atmosphere. We all agree on the text of that statement. It can be interpreted that as long as the issue is not resolved, the negotiations are not effective,” he said.

Commenting on the response from Azerbaijan to the Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan's statement about “a new war and new territories,” Pashinyan stated that there is nothing unreasonable or, even more so, destructive in the Minister's statement.

“We say: don’t scare us with war, because we are not afraid of war. Naturally, if someone starts a war against us, if anyone thinks that Armenia will surrender. We are the number one advocates that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue should be resolved exclusively through peaceful negotiations. We have stated that we will do everything in our power to advance the peace agenda, but if we constantly talk about the peace agenda, let no one get the impression that we are afraid of the threat of war,” said the Prime Minister.
