Four Types of Sour Cream Contained Unlabeled Vegetable Oil, Reports SFSCA

In the course of inspections conducted to determine the presence of vegetable oil in sour creams, four brands of sour cream were found to contain vegetable oil, which had not been indicated on their labeling.

According to the Food Safety Inspection Body, these include:

  • “Kalinin” (20%) – producer: “Lorva Dairy” LLC (production date: 25.03.2019),
  • “Diet” (18%) – producer: “Diet” LLC (production date: 31.03.2019),
  • “Manuk” (18%) – producer: individual entrepreneur Gagik Manukyan (production date: 30.03.2019),
  • “Zangezur” (18%) – producer: individual entrepreneur Arman Aghabekyan (production date: 02.03.2019).

According to the test reports of the “Republican Veterinary and Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services Center” of the SFSCA, the mentioned products do not meet the specifications and designation of the “sour cream” product category as defined by the Technical Regulation MM TK 033/2013, specifically concerning the presence of fatty acids (indicating vegetable oil).

The SFSCA reports that according to Article 2, Part 12 of the Law on Food Safety of the Republic of Armenia, these products are considered counterfeit food.
