Former Contract Serviceman Davit Hakobyan Ends Hunger Strike After 3 Days; Defense Ministry Promises Assistance

Former contract serviceman Davit Hakobyan, who declared a hunger strike three days ago in front of the Ministry of Defense central office, has just ended his hunger strike and returned home.

"I have returned home; the Defense Ministry promised me that all my issues would be resolved by Monday," he told NEWS.am.

"They made me disabled; they told me it was my fault, but I have the relevant documents proving that it was the doctor's fault." The former serviceman demands to be sent to Germany for treatment.

The spokesperson for the Defense Minister, Artur Hakobyan, addressed this issue on his Facebook page, stating that Davit Hakobyan's illness did not develop as a result of participating in combat operations and therefore he is not eligible for treatment abroad.

Hakobyan provided details on how the problem arose, what illnesses emerged, what surgeries have been performed, and what treatments have been carried out. He also specified the frequency of assistance and the amount of financial support provided to the former serviceman.
