Illegal Fish Farm Discovered, Materials Being Prepared
An illegal fish farm has operated in the territory of the Gohth community. In this regard, Armen Vardanyan, the head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Environment, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Information circulated on social networks stating that fishponds were constructed in the riverbed of the Azat River adjacent to the Gohth and Garni communities. During an inspection conducted by the staff of the Water Resources Management Agency’s Fishery Territorial Management Department, it was revealed that, without the relevant permits (illegally), a fish farm was established in the administrative area of Gohth community.
The aforementioned 2.5 hectares of land belongs to Grigor Grigoryan, on which he has engaged in illegal fish farming activities over an area of 0.5 hectares. For this, he has been fined 100,000 drams by the community administration for illegally changing the purpose of the land.
The staff of the Fishery Territorial Management Department are preparing the relevant materials to be submitted to the Inspection Body of the Ministry of Environment and Mining.”
