Sotk-Karvachar Highway Impassable

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of March 20 at 22:00, there are closed and impassable highways in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers, while it is difficult to traverse for others.

The Sotk-Karvachar highway is also impassable.

Snow is falling in the towns of Goris, Sisian, and the area known as “Zanger” in the Syunik region.

There are patches of black ice and fog on the Goris-Kapan highway.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.

Regarding Lars

According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles.

Construction Work is Underway

Construction work is ongoing from kilometer 39 of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway to Bagratashen.

Alternative routes for transportation have been established:

For intra-community travel to the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby settlements:

1. Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aigahat-Odzun-Alaverdi via the road sections to the Georgian border.

As of June 30, 2018, until March 20 of this year, construction works are being carried out at kilometer 139 of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, resulting in a one-way closure of approximately 200 meters.
