Central Streets of Several Cities in Kazakhstan Renamed After Nazarbayev

In Kazakhstan, the central streets of five cities will now be named after the country's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. This was reported by «Хабар 24».

Such a decision has been made by local self-governing bodies in cities including Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, and Atyrau.

“Naming cities, objects, and streets after prominent figures who have made significant contributions to the country’s history is a long-standing tradition. Our generations should remember where Kazakhstan's history began,” said Sergey Khudyakov, director of a branch of the Kazakhstan Center for Housing Economy Modernization and Development.

It is noteworthy that at the suggestion of Kazakhstan's newly elected president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the parliament unanimously renamed the country’s capital, Nur-Sultan, in honor of Nazarbayev.
