The 'Achilles Heel' of the Authorities is Their Women
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: 'The 'Achilles heel' of the young authorities is their women. They have not achieved success independently but believe they have a significant contribution to their husbands' successes, thus claiming a great right to utilize governmental levers.
While the responsibilities of the Armenian Prime Minister's wife, Anna Hakobyan, are somewhat clear, the ambitions and functions of the other 'first ladies' are ambiguous. Notably active is Ararat Mirzoyan's wife. Surprisingly, third on the list is the wife of Mayor Haik Marutyan, a Czech by nationality, modest and seemingly passive, Iva. Our sources say that after Haik was elected mayor, his wife used to spend all day at City Hall; however, it seems they indicated to her that this was inappropriate, and now she goes to the municipal office only after working hours.
It is said that she essentially performs the duties of an advisor or assistant to the mayor — hosting various individuals, negotiating with them, and discussing various issues. She also frequently answers her husband's phone instead of him.
