Nazarbayev Resigns: Reasons Behind His Decision
It has just been announced that Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has resigned. This is unprecedented for the country, as such an event has never occurred before. During a televised address in which Nazarbayev announced his resignation, he also outlined the reasons that led him to make this decision.
Nazarbayev expressed dissatisfaction with the government's performance. According to him, the executive branch failed to implement economic reforms, increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses, clean up the banking system, enhance public confidence in judicial and law enforcement systems, create new jobs, and ultimately improve the lives of the people.
It is noteworthy that until the next presidential election, the chair of the parliament will assume the role of acting president.
The resigned Nazarbayev will continue to lead the Security Council.
