Tense Situation Around the Opera: Cafés Being Dismantled
The Yerevan City Hall has begun dismantling the cafés operating near the Opera. The atmosphere is quite tense on site, as employees raise their voices in protest, stating that they will lose their jobs as a result.
There is a significant police presence in the area. Also present is Viktor Mnatsakanyan, the head of the Central admin district.
It is noteworthy that those who rented plots of land owned by the city and developed café businesses around the Opera, adjacent to Freedom Square, received a notification from the relevant department of the city hall at the beginning of the year, suggesting that they relinquish part of the land allocated to them under lease.
