Cafés Adjacent to the Opera Will Not Be Demolished Overnight: Agreements Made at City Hall

No decision has been made as such; representatives from the city hall simply promised that nothing would be secretly dismantled overnight. This was stated today, March 13, after a meeting between representatives of the cafés adjacent to the Opera and city hall officials, by Ani Khachatryan, a member of the City Council’s ‘Lus’ faction, as reported by News.am.

“They promised there would be no random dismantling. The café owners also suggested that despite having a 10-year lease agreement, they are willing to work for at least 5 years,” said Ani Khachatryan.

Victor Mnatsakanyan, the head of the Central community, also noted that he does not see the option of dismantling, however, the final decision lies with the mayor. “We will discuss all proposals with the mayor, after which we will announce our decision,” he stated.

Victor Mnatsakanyan also revealed that Hayk Marutyan was not present at the meeting because he was in a meeting with the President of Georgia.
