On March 7, 2019, at 15:15, the police department of Sisian received a report from Sisian Medical Center regarding a resident of Sisian, born in 1986, who was admitted with 'crushed wounds to the top of the head and a depressed skull fracture' diagnosed at 14:25 on the same day.

In connection with this fact, a criminal case was initiated on March 7, 2019, by the Sisian investigatory division of the Syunik regional investigative department under the first part of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code. The 32-year-old woman has been recognized as a victim.

As a result of urgent investigative and procedural actions, several circumstances of the incident were clarified, including the motive, the location of the incident, and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is the victim's ex-husband, a resident of Yerevan, born in 1971.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the injuries were sustained during an argument over personal matters with her ex-husband.

Specifically, it was established that on March 7, 2019, around 13:00, in the office of a company operating in Sisian, the 47-year-old man struck his ex-wife multiple times on the head and various parts of her body with a metal corner piece, causing 'life-threatening severe bodily injuries in the form of cranio-cerebral trauma, concussion of the brain, and multiple cuts, lacerations on the head, a cut on the lower jaw, and lacerated wounds to the fifth finger of the right hand.'

To clarify circumstances of significant importance to the criminal case, forensic medical, toxicological, and chemical examinations have been appointed.

With a sufficient combination of evidence obtained, charges were filed against the 47-year-old man on March 10, 2019, under the first part of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code.

The investigator has submitted a petition to the court to select pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted.
