Belarus Has Never Been and Will Never Be a Parasite of Russia: Lukashenko

Belarus has never been a freeloader, has never been a parasite of Russia, and will not be one in the future. Belarusians are not freeloaders for Russia but rather their kin. This statement was made today by the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with Belarusian and foreign journalists.

“Stop accusing us of freeloading. We haven't been your funded free riders, and we won’t be. When the people hear that, especially I, a person with self-esteem, I no longer want any union (with Russia),” Lukashenko stated.

The President of Belarus declared that they are not merely partners with Russians but rather close relatives. Lukashenko also presented Belarus's status against the backdrop of the existing contradictions between Russia and the West.

“We are doomed to live together, and we understand this no less than you do, especially given that we are not expected in the West. They don't need us there, and an example of this is Ukraine,” said the President of Belarus.
