Morning of March 1, 2008, at Levon Ter-Petrosyan's Home: Archival Photos

Journalist Rafael Teimurazyan wrote on his Facebook page: “On the morning of March 1, 2008, at Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s home. The photos are from Levon Barseghyan's archive.

In the early hours, after the peaceful gathering was violently dispersed, Ter-Petrosyan was forcibly removed from the square, taken home, and surrounded. He was holding a press conference at his house, but journalists were not allowed inside. We had gathered around armed men surrounding the house, and there were several calls back and forth until the order was given to let the journalists in. Both when entering and exiting, checks were conducted, and records were made of who belonged to which media outlet. It felt as if they were guarding some sort of super-secret military facility.

The journalist added that Ter-Petrosyan recounted what he saw. “The operators complained that the light coming through the window was disturbing. The household members brought a yellow-orange blanket and hung it over the curtains. The press conference took place against the background of this aesthetically not-so-successful solution. But at that moment, no one was interested in aesthetics,” he wrote.
