Female Officer and Colleagues Neutralize Armed Criminal in Artik
Today, an armed robbery occurred in the Shirak region. At approximately 09:25, police officers from the 3rd squad of the rapid response unit of the Artik Police Department, in collaboration with criminal investigation and community police department officers, neutralized an armed suspect in the city of Artik.
According to Shamshyan.com, the suspect, whose face was covered with a medical mask and armed with a knife, was unable to escape from the police.
Witnesses at the scene told a photojournalist, “We thought it was a movie being shot. A masked young man was trying to flee after entering a jewelry store belonging to Vardan Harutyunyan and attempting to rob it under the threat of a knife. The store owner, along with the police from Artik, restrained him to the ground, and he couldn't escape even from Police Senior Sergeant Marine Baghdasaryan of the 3rd squad, who, along with her colleagues, executed what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Police Chief Valery Osipyan referred to as ‘lay down the operation on the asphalt.’ The police who arrived at the scene transported the robber to the Artik Police Department.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Armenia at the Shirak regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Based on the investigator's decision, the suspect has been arrested. According to G. Shamshyan’s information, the suspect is 48-year-old Hamazasp Mnatsakanyan, a resident of the Sarapak village in Shirak region.
