Allegations of Dark Deals Are 7 Months Delayed, Says Anna Hakobyan
Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, wrote on her Facebook page:
“Since the first of November, the list of donors to the 'City of Smiles' foundation and the amount they donated has been posted on the foundation's website. As far as I understand, it was purely by chance that someone spotted it, posted about it on Facebook, and turned it into one of the top topics in recent news. Moreover, all media reports begin with the following sentence: '...the foundation has published the list of donors,' which can create the impression among people that the list was published today or yesterday.
And... What kind of analyses, suspicions about dark deals, and transparent hints regarding donations and compliance/non-compliance with tax obligations are hanging in the air! Everything is normal, the list has been published, and we have adopted an extremely transparent approach precisely for this process so that journalists can scrutinize it under a microscope, so that everyone knows about us—who we received money from, what we did with that money, and so on.
It is not normal that if some individual had not accidentally discovered this list four months later, this very important topic would not have reached the Armenian media space at all.
As for the donations, all major donations listed were made during the gala dinner held at the 'Marriott' hotel at the end of July, or shortly thereafter. So, in this case, all analyses and suspicions about dark deals are about 7 months late.
For journalists:
Once the website of the 'My Step' foundation is ready, the list of donors to this foundation will also be posted there. Everyone will benefit if they are the first to discover this 'treasure.' Let’s not leave our top news topic to the hope of individual citizens or random occurrences :)”
