Attempt to Hijack Plane Carrying 142 Passengers in Bangladesh

An aircraft flying from Bangladesh to Dubai was forced to make an emergency landing due to a situation on board, reports RIA Novosti, adding that an unidentified individual attempted to hijack it using a weapon.

The incident involved a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight. According to police reports, the plane landed at 5:15 PM local time. Shortly thereafter, all 142 passengers exited the aircraft.

Military personnel and police, who had surrounded the plane, arrested the suspect. He is currently being interrogated, but his motives remain unclear.
