Yerevan on the Path to Becoming a Smart City: Huawei Negotiating with Government

One of the modern technological giants, the Chinese company Huawei, currently facing restrictions in the West, has begun negotiations with the Armenian government to implement a "Smart City" system.

A joint project agreement between Armenia and Huawei was signed back in 2017, which seems to have gone unnoticed by the media.

According to the eurasianet.org website, the "Smart City" program aims to ease people's lives and ensure absolute security in various sectors. According to Huawei, by 2025, there will be 27 megacities with a population of 10 million on the planet, which will lead to significant transportation, health, and public service challenges.

With this solution, Huawei intends to protect cities from various threats, including physical, network, informational, and other challenges posed by the real world. Currently, about 120 cities in more than 40 countries have such capabilities. The system aims to differentiate and monitor people, as well as establish control over goods and services.

Thanks to the integrated technologies, it will also become easier to monitor and prevent crimes, reduce cybercrime, terrorist attacks, and more. In Armenia, a memorandum for the pilot implementation of the "Smart City" program was signed by Boris Demirkhanyan, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technologies of Armenia, and Tsao Chun, the Vice President of Huawei Technologies (Russia). Yerevan is also on the path to becoming a "Smart City."
