Protesters Attempt to Storm Prime Minister's Office in Albania
In Tirana, supporters of the Albanian opposition have breached police lines and attempted to storm the building housing Prime Minister Edi Rama's office.
Local media report that the protesters attempted to break the building's doors with iron objects and threw stones at the windows. In response, police deployed tear gas. It has been noted that there are injuries among both protesters and law enforcement officers.
Albanian President Ilir Meta has called for the protest to be conducted peacefully and emphasized the importance of respecting state institutions.
The opposition accuses the government of corruption.
It is worth mentioning that in late December 2018, eggs were thrown at Edi Rama in the Albanian Parliament.
