Osipyan Orders Enhanced Surveillance
The head of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, Valery Osipyan, chaired an operational consultation on February 16.
According to the Public Relations and Media Department of the RA Police, deputy chiefs of police, heads of the central apparatus, and regional and territorial units participated in the consultation.
Before the meeting, the police chief awarded the Head of the Public Order Protection Service, Police Corporal Sevak Badalyan, for successfully preventing a robbery at one of Yerevan's banks and fulfilling his official duties with diligence. The main topic of the consultation was the operational situation in the republic.
Valery Osipyan, addressing the recorded incidents and the statistics on resolutions, instructed the department heads to prioritize the prevention, anticipation, and resolution of property-related crimes.
Specific numerical data on the resolutions of particular territorial divisions were presented, which were unsatisfactory. The division leaders were instructed to carry out all necessary measures promptly to rectify the situation and ensure a positive trend in resolutions. Valery Osipyan ordered to switch to enhanced service.
He instructed to engage in a more efficient fight against the discovery of illegal weapons and ammunition, illegal drug trafficking, and corruption. The Juvenile Affairs and Family Violence Prevention Unit of the Police was tasked to ensure that every case involving minors is thoroughly studied and scrutinized.
There is a need for more intensive work with minors to exclude any violations involving their participation. The discussion also touched upon the personnel policy of the police. The police chief emphasized the need to fill the system exclusively with quality personnel. Complaints from citizens related to fireworks during nighttime hours are still being received. Valery Osipyan ordered strict supervision in this regard.
The Road Police were instructed to organize more intensive services to eliminate congestion in the capital. Although there has been a decrease in the number of casualties and injuries from road traffic accidents, the police chief urged not to rest on laurels and continue the measures.
Attention was drawn to the local self-government elections scheduled for February 17 in several communities of the republic. Strict instructions were given to ensure proper service in this regard. At the end of the meeting, the deputy chiefs of police discussed with the participants the ways and means of implementing Valery Osipyan's instructions.
