Criminal Case Launched for Major Misappropriation at Artik High School No. 3

Shirak Region Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case regarding alleged corruption abuses at Artik High School No. 3.

Operational information has been received at the Artik division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia concerning criminal acts committed by the former director of the state non-commercial organization, Shirak Region's "Artik High School No. 3." In connection with this, materials have been prepared in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code.

During the preparation of the materials, factual data was obtained indicating that the former director of "Artik High School No. 3" misappropriated a substantial amount of funds, amounting to 2,311,752 AMD, during the period from 2009 to 2018, by using her official position.

Specifically, under three orders issued by the former director in 2011, 2015, and 2016, three individuals were hired as security guards and electricians, who did not attend work. Despite this, payments were reportedly made in the names of one of them from April 2011 until September 2014, another from July 2015 until December 2016, and the third from December 2016 until September 2018, amounting to 281,750, 912,619, and 1,117,383 AMD respectively, which they received and disposed of.

Considering that the prepared materials contain sufficient factual data indicating the presence of signs of the alleged offense of significant misappropriation by abusing office position, the Deputy Prosecutor of Shirak Region has initiated a criminal case under the first and third points of part 2 of Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
