Negotiations on Gas Prices Concern Protection of Our Interests, Prime Minister Provides Details

The state does not purchase gas; it is bought from Russia by the company "Gazprom Armenia." The state deals with the consumers in Armenia, and we have stated that the gas price will not increase during the year 2019.

This was stated today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a session of the National Assembly in response to a question from Arman Babajanyan, a member of the "Bright Armenia" faction, regarding how the price increase of gas by Russia will be compensated for consumers and whether internal debt could accumulate if negotiations with "Gazprom Armenia" do not succeed.

Continuing on the topic of negotiations concerning gas prices, Pashinyan mentioned that there is a need for discussion within the framework of Armenian-Russian relations and the EEU on this matter.

"These discussions need to be conducted to protect Armenia's interests. We are currently prioritizing the optimization of 'Gazprom Armenia' and improving the efficiency of that system. We must work in that direction," added Nikol Pashinyan.
