Alaverdi Residents Refuse to Open Yerevan-Tbilisi Railway
Residents of Alaverdi continue to keep the Yerevan-Tbilisi railway closed. NEWS.am learned this from Armen Kirakosyan, an employee of the Alaverdi copper smelting plant. "The governor visited us and conveyed that representatives of the government would come to Alaverdi on Friday; however, we will not open the railway. If they wanted, they would have come today," he said.
He also mentioned that they are ready to continue their protest rally day and night until the issue is resolved.
It is worth noting that since this morning, the employees of the Alaverdi copper smelting plant and the city's residents have blocked the Yerevan-Tbilisi railway, demanding that the Alaverdi copper smelting plant not cease its operations.
