Special Operation in Yerevan: Police and Investigators Prevent Armed Clash
Today, a significant number of investigators from the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee's Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts carried out operational intelligence operations, successfully preventing an armed clash in the capital.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the actions taken by the investigators and police, they managed to neutralize over ten individuals right at the source, as the public refers to it.
Reports indicate that the investigators conducted multiple simultaneous searches that were legally authorized by the court. The searches were reportedly so surprising that the individuals were unable to hide any items, including firearms and a baton.
Moments ago, the neutralized individuals were transported to the Erebuni police station by masked police officers accompanying the investigators. Following the incident, based on the decision of the head of the investigative department A. Guyunyan, an investigative team was formed. Investigators have concluded through their extensive operations that the intelligence they received was credible, and these individuals might be involved in the case of a quarrel and shooting that occurred on January 20 of this year at one of the billiard halls in the Erebuni neighborhood, during which two citizens were hospitalized due to injuries from sharp objects.
At the billiard hall, investigators also found cartridge casings from various firearms.
According to G. Shamshyan, when the doctors at the hospital attempted to provide medical assistance to one of the victims, they discovered numerous tattoos across a significant part of his body that bore symbols of organized crime, most of which are characteristic of the "Armenia Power" criminal group. Further details are currently being investigated.
The photojournalist also reports that police and investigators have serious suspicions that the arrangements, as the public is wont to say, were being made from prison. As of now, forensic experts from the police's forensic department are conducting investigations on the seized automatic weapon.
