Police Detain Suspect in University Mobile Phone Thefts
On December 20, 2018, at 8:50 PM, the Central Police Department received a report from an 18-year-old woman stating that on the same day, around 2:00 PM, her Samsung J-3 mobile phone was stolen from the restroom of Yerevan's Agrarian University.
A similar alert was also received on February 4 from two high school students at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, who reported that on the same day, around 11:00 AM, an iPhone 6S and a Lenovo mobile phone were stolen from one of the classrooms in the 9th building of the university.
Police officers, acting on operational information, apprehended 63-year-old Artashes M. near 20 Byuzandi Street on February 5, at 7:30 PM, under suspicion of committing the aforementioned thefts. He has provided a confession.
Measures are being taken to recover the stolen items.
An investigation is underway.
