Ashot Ghulyan on the 'Land for Peace' Thesis
I have often stated and continue to assert today: the principles of land for peace, land for status, or land for international guarantees are unacceptable. This was announced in a post on Facebook by Ashot Ghulyan, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh.
“During my tenure as the head of Parliament, there has not been a single instance where the authorities of Artsakh have been spoken to in the language of imposition regarding the resolution of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict. Therefore, I find all the distortions being thrown into the public sphere in the context of the upcoming elections in Artsakh in 2020 to be incomprehensible,” he stated.
Referring to the meeting in July 2016 in Stepanakert with former RA President Serzh Sargsyan and responsible political figures of Artsakh, Ghulyan wanted to highlight an important circumstance: “What was discussed with the former president and what the consequences were are quite obvious. It resulted in a hardening of both Yerevan's and Stepanakert's positions on resolving the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict.”
“I have often stated and continue to assert today: the principles of land for peace, land for status, or land for international guarantees are unacceptable. Instead of developing conspiracy theories, I advise interested parties to think about strengthening the positions of the Armenian side,” the post concluded.
