Georg Kostanyan to Receive a Position
The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that former Prosecutor General Georg Kostanyan is set to receive a position in the near future.
As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during the appointment of Hunan Poghosyan as the governor, professional personnel with proven experience are also needed in the public administration system.
It is known that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue holds paramount importance for our country, and discussions regarding its resolution have intensified recently. The political stance is clear: Nikol Pashinyan is not inclined to make concessions, meaning that a solution is not imminent.
Judging by his public statements, the Prime Minister is more inclined to take concrete steps towards the international recognition of the current situation, indicating there are legal matters to address. As one of the leading specialists in this field, it is likely that former Prosecutor General and former representative of the Armenian government at the ECHR, Georg Kostanyan, will join the effort. He has a profound understanding of the legal methodology surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue from the perspective of international law.
It is worth noting that the non-partisan Georg Kostanyan achieved significant success in the legal arena last year, enabling Artsakh's representative Emil Babayan to participate in a meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the ECHR. Lastly, it should be added that in post-revolutionary Armenia, the involvement of former government officials occurs under one condition: they must not have been linked to any corruption scandals. Georg Kostanyan’s name is generally not associated with any corrupt dealings; moreover, he has been intolerant towards such phenomena in his role as a prosecutor.
