Georgia to Penalize Sexual Offenses
Sexual offenses in Georgia will be considered a punishable act. According to the APSNY.GE website, this new regulation will come into effect after amendments are made to the administrative violations legislation in Georgia.
The Parliamentary Council on Gender Equality has completed the preparation of the relevant draft law. According to the document, physical acts, expressions, and the display of sexual organs will be classified as sexual offenses.
Accordingly, offenders will be fined 300 lari (approximately 110 dollars). If such behavior is repeated, the fine will increase to 500 lari, or corrective work may be assigned for up to one month.
Notably, sexual offenses against minors, pregnant women, persons with intellectual disabilities, and persons with limited capabilities, or in the presence of minors, will incur fines ranging from 500 to 800 lari. In the case of repeated offenses, the fine will amount to 800-1000 lari, and up to 10 days of administrative detention may also be imposed.
