First Patient Treated Under Cerebral Ischemic Stroke Treatment Program: Minister

The first patient has received thrombolytic treatment starting today under the state program for the "Treatment of Cerebral Ischemic Stroke." The patient's long-term disability was effectively prevented, or a life was saved.

This was announced on Facebook by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, who wished the patient a speedy recovery and thanked the emergency medical team and the staff of Erebuni Medical Center.

The medical center also reported that at 12:22 PM, the neurologist of Erebuni Medical Center received a call from the emergency medical team regarding a case of acute stroke.

The patient was transferred to the medical center at 12:55 PM, exhibiting weakness, numbness on the right side of the face and limbs, along with speech and vision disturbances. The symptoms appeared 3 hours later.

The patient’s neurological deficit was rapidly assessed, laboratory tests were performed, and a CT scan of the brain along with CT angiography was carried out.

Within 35 minutes of arriving at the hospital, the patient’s thrombolytic treatment was initiated. Within just 2 hours, there was a noticeable positive change in the patient’s neurological condition, with complete recovery of weakness and numbness in the face and limbs, and a noticeable improvement in speech and vision.

The patient’s condition is currently stable and under the supervision of the stroke team at Erebuni Medical Center.
