Court Hearing on Robert Kocharyan's Bail Conditions to Resume Tomorrow
The appeal hearing regarding the bail conditions of Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, has been postponed at the Court of Appeals.
"The hearing has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 15:00," said Vahagn Muradyan, head of the Department for Oversight over Investigations of Particularly Important Cases at the Prosecutor General's Office, in a conversation with reporters.
He noted that the hearing was postponed because the defense team has not yet completed their appeal.
It's worth mentioning that Robert Kocharyan was present at today's hearing.
Recall that, by the decision of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on January 18, 2019, the request of the Special Investigative Service investigator to extend the detention period of Robert Kocharyan was granted, while the request of the defense to replace the detention with an alternative bail measure was rejected. The defense team has lodged an appeal against this court decision.
Additionally, Robert Kocharyan did not make a statement at the Court of Appeals today; his defense team member, Haik Alumnyan, stated that Kocharyan will present a statement in court tomorrow.
When asked whether the court might retire to the consultation room tomorrow, Kocharyan's lawyer replied, "Considering that there will only be three working hours tomorrow, it is unlikely."
