Artak Zeynalanyan Wanted to Meet Robert Kocharyan in Prison but Was Categorically Refused

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that significant developments are taking place within the Ministry of Justice, not only regarding the dismissal of two deputy ministers but also concerning the "circumstances" surrounding the death of Mher Yeghiazaryan.

Minister Artak Zeynalanyan's spokesperson, Lusine Martirosyan, left the question regarding the minister's resignation unresolved during our conversation.

Interestingly, persistent rumors are circulating within the system that Zeynalanyan attempted to meet with Robert Kocharyan during a visit to the "Kenatron" penitentiary while visiting Nairi Hunanyan; however, Kocharyan categorically refused to meet.

The Ministry's spokesperson called this rumor "inaccurate," but our sources insist on the news's authenticity. As for the two deputy ministers, Suren Krmoyan and Arthur Hovhannisyan, according to our information, representatives of Armenia's civil society wish to see their representatives in the positions of these two professional deputy ministers, aiming to have a platform for the full operation of the future institute of transitional justice.

Moreover, our government sources also suggest there is a trend toward reverting to previous personnel. Additionally, it is not ruled out that the chief prosecutor may change before February, with new names for deputy prosecutors emerging, including that of Rustam Mahmudyan from the Republican Party, who is currently working in the Judicial Department.
