Why the Police Did Not Respond When Manvel Grigoryan's Car Was Hit

During a press conference today, the head of the Police Headquarters, Armen Ghukasian, addressed the issue raised by Manvel Grigoryan's lawyers, who reported that a police officer was present when his car was hit and did not respond.

“It is possible that a police officer was present and allowed such actions. If the officer did not respond, then he has been subjected to appropriate disciplinary action. If this incident has been covered by the media, then the police have certainly responded, and that response has not been delayed, regardless of when this occurred during a demonstration,” said Ghukasian.

The head of the Police Public Relations and Information Department, Ashot Aharonyan, also responded to the same question, stating, “Sometimes certain individuals demand on social media that police be more stringent and take appropriate actions, but let’s accept that the police must operate within the law in their actions. A specific act requires a specific response in a specific situation.

Often, amateur assessments are voiced demanding that someone should have been arrested, taken away, but that is not the case. Any report received by the police becomes a subject of investigation. In this regard, we are grateful that issues are being raised. However, there are cases when users demand from the police more than the law allows without having specific knowledge.”
