What Did MPs Discuss with the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee?

According to the newspaper "Hraparak," a closed meeting took place yesterday in the "My Step" faction with the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Davit Ananyan, which was held in quite a tense atmosphere. Economists Artak Manukyan, lawyer Nikolay Baghdasaryan, and others were at the forefront of those confronting the head of the SRC from the ruling party.

The SRC chairman stated that everything was done within the framework of the law, that the figures published in the media are exaggerated, and that his income does not exceed 2-3 million AMD per month, including salary, bonuses, and rewards.

In response to questions, the SRC chairman justified the amount of that income, mentioning that they work in a complex and risky field. However, some MPs drew comparisons with teachers' salaries: "Why should a school teacher receive 100,000 AMD when they are educating generations, some of whom will later work as the Chairman of the SRC or employees within the system, while such astronomical figures exist in the mentioned system?"

Shirak Torosyan, a former MP from the Republican Party, now a member of "My Step," defended Ananyan, reminding that there have been similar rewards in the past, and it is only the media that has sensationalized the issue. They have decided to continue the discussion with representatives from other departments, including the Minister of Finance, possibly the Mayor of Yerevan, and only then will conclusions be drawn to determine whether legislative regulations are necessary or not.
