The State Revenue Committee Clarifies Recent Statements

The State Revenue Committee's department of information and public relations has issued a statement, which notably mentions that the press conferences organized periodically by the head of the Operational Intelligence Division, Karen Karapetyan, aim to present him as a victim and mislead the public.

The reports presented by Karen Karapetyan's representative, Tigran Hayrapetyan, claiming that Karapetyan has uncovered abuses during the operations of companies engaged in the import and export of goods and has reported them to the head of the State Revenue Committee, are not in line with reality. According to Karapetyan, the lack of action on the part of the committee leadership has allowed these issues to go unaddressed. Moreover, the Committee published articles months ago stating that monitoring work has been conducted on several companies engaged in import and export, leading to the initiation and investigation of criminal cases based on the violations identified, with ongoing oversight work in certain instances.

Regarding the continuation of the pre-investigation by the investigative department of the State Revenue Committee assigned to the criminal case against Karen Karapetyan by the Chief Prosecutor, the State Revenue Committee assures that its investigative department and the preliminary investigation body have all the necessary means to conduct an objective and fair investigation.
