Yerevan Council Rejects Yuri Khachaturov's Son and Tashir Group

News.am reports: A citizen, Sargis Karapetyan, had applied to the Yerevan City Hall for the right to continue operating a service parking lot. Although the applicant is an individual, the permit request was on behalf of the Tashir Group. During a session of the Yerevan Council held today, January 29, Anni Khachatryan, a member of the Council’s Luys faction, stated, "The Tashir company takes three parking spaces, but it accommodates more than ten vehicles. It violates the law. We are granting permission for three vehicles, but right now, more than ten are parked on Teryan Street."

She emphasized that there are two schools located in the Teryan-Moskva-Abovyan area, which always experiences traffic congestion, and there are numerous buildings on Aghayan Street that have significant courtyard parking issues. "That area could serve the parents of students studying at the schools and the residents of Aghayan Street," noted the council member.

Mayor Hayk Marutyan suggested granting permission for three parking spaces and monitoring if they continue to park ten, in which case the decision could be revoked.

Thirteen members voted in favor of the draft decision, eight voted against it, and twenty-two members abstained, leading to the rejection of the proposal.

In another proposal, a request was made by a citizen, Igor Khachaturov, Yuri Khachaturov's son, for the right to continue the operation of a service parking lot intended to serve the visitors and employees of the "Kofisthori" café.

This proposal was also rejected, with eighteen members voting in favor, seven against, and seventeen abstaining.

It is noteworthy that the previous Yerevan council had granted similar permissions to these companies.
