Levon Ter-Petrosyan Has Overthrown the Constitutional Order: Defense

As we have already reported, the Criminal Appeal Court is once again discussing the petition regarding Robert Kocharyan's pre-trial detention.

Before entering the courtroom, Kocharyan's attorney Rubik Sahakyan stated that accusing Robert Kocharyan of overthrowing the constitutional order is a legal ignorance. “How can a person, being the president of Armenia, overthrow the constitutional order? It was Levon Ter-Petrosyan who overthrew the constitutional order,” he argued.

It should be reminded that on January 18, Judge Arthur Mkrtchyan of the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan accepted the petition of the Special Investigative Service investigator to extend the duration of Robert Kocharyan's detention and rejected the defense's petition to replace the detention as a precautionary measure with an alternative measure of bail.

The defense team has submitted an appeal against this court decision.
