Black Ice, Snow, and Blizzard: Current Conditions on Armenia's Roads
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of January 29, at 08:40, there are impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed to cargo vehicles and is difficult for passenger cars. The Sotk-Karmiravan road is also impassable.
There are reports of black ice on the roads in the regions of Ashotsk and Amasia in Shirak Province and in the Syunik Province, as well as in the Saravan-Zanger section.
Snowfall is present in Martuni, Vardenis, Gavar, and Chambarak in Gegharkunik Province; in Maralik in Shirak Province; in Hrazdan and Charentsavan in Kotayk Province; in the area dubbed 'Meghri Mountain' in Syunik Province; in Kapan; and in the Saravan-Zanger section.
Blizzards are reported on the Sotk-Karmiravan road and in the Aragatsotn region of Aragats.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
