Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Incident in Gyumri

A fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in the Shirak Province yesterday. Around 19:15, a 42-year-old resident of Gyumri, Artyom Harutyunyan, struck a 79-year-old pedestrian, Izabela Gharibyan, on Tigran Mets Street while driving his Mercedes with license plate number 33 ТТ 637.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene and assisted the victim in getting to the Gyumri Medical Center. Following this, he notified the Kumayri division of the Gyumri Police about the incident.

The driver underwent a medical examination, which confirmed that he was sober at the time of the incident, and reports indicate that he was previously a police officer.
